FormGoat Docs: fill PDF, Word and Excel forms from your documents

Plenty of forms never reach a website. They arrive as a PDF from a government office, a Word questionnaire from a bank, or an Excel template from a client. FormGoat Docs fills those files in the browser: you upload the documents that hold the data and the form itself, and you get the same file back with the values in place.

No installation is needed. FormGoat Docs runs at formgoat.ai/docs/app, and the first 5 forms are free.

How it works

1. Drop your sources. Passports, contracts, certificates, scans and phone photos, CSV exports, Excel workbooks, Word lists. One file or several: they are read together, and every sheet of a workbook is included.
2. Drop the form to fill. A PDF, a Word document (DOCX) or an Excel workbook (XLSX). FormGoat Docs reads its fields and their types, the hints the author wrote next to them, and the layout of the page.
3. Click Analyse with AI. The AI matches values to fields and fills the form. You review the result, correct anything, and download the finished file.

Which forms it fills

• Fillable PDF forms (AcroForm). Text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons and lists. These work best, because their fields are machine-readable.
• Flat PDFs. Forms with lines, blank spaces and boxes to tick but no interactive fields. The text is laid onto the page where each answer belongs.
• Forms with no printed lines. Questionnaires laid out as a Word table, where the answer goes into an empty cell next to the question.
• Word documents (DOCX). The document is filled and shown as a document, not as extracted text.
• Excel workbooks (XLSX). Values go into cells by address, and the whole workbook is read, every sheet, not just the first.

Sources can be PDF, Word (DOC, DOCX), Excel (XLS, XLSX), CSV, images (JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC), plain text and Markdown. Scans and photos are recognised before the data is extracted, and documents in different languages can be mixed.

You can see where every value came from

The hard part of filling a form from someone else's documents is not typing but checking. FormGoat Docs labels every value with the file, the page and the line it was taken from. Click the label and the document opens on the left at that very spot, so checking a value takes a second instead of a search through a stack of scans.

A value that looks doubtful, a date landing in a field that expects no dates for example, is flagged to check on its own rather than hidden among the filled ones.

It asks instead of guessing

When two sources disagree, say the passport and the application spell a street differently, or a value the form needs is missing from everything you uploaded, the AI asks one targeted question instead of quietly picking an answer. You reply, and the form is filled with what you said. Any value can also be corrected by hand and the form refilled.

The layout stays yours

You get your original file back: the same page size, fonts and pagination, with the values in the right places. There is nothing to reformat afterwards, and the result is ready to print, sign or send.

What happens to your documents

• Hosting and the database are in the EU (the Netherlands). Text recognition and AI extraction are done by providers in the USA under Standard Contractual Clauses.
• A working session and its files expire 24 hours after upload. Extracted profiles are kept for one year.
• Data is encrypted in transit, and a data processing agreement is available to business customers.

Registration takes a couple of clicks, and your first 5 forms are free with no card required. After that, Plus (€18 a month) includes 300 fills and Premium (€48 a month) includes 1,500.
